War - Poetry by Neelum Afridi

"War"

A war, I fight in my mind,
Among the opposing phyle.
One talks death the other say life,
One say black the other white.

I seem so quiet
To every sight,
A war is going inside.
A war so deep and wild,
For love and smile,
For peace and life.

Attacks my mind, the hostile,
I defend with might.
This scene of ancient conflict
Like those Arabic scuffling,
Same as it but disparate,
They were fought on sands and desert,
I play this hassle
Somewhere in my poise.

They were violent, with noise,
The bloodshed and scourge.
No, I'm in a combat of silence,
No bloodshed and no violence.
Still so painful and annoying,
Like the barefoot in winter mornings.
